You should be able to trust what you read here — especially when it's about your money. So we're open about how we work.
Math, not hype
We write about financial independence in numbers you can check. When we mention a figure or a rule, we show where it comes from and what it assumes. We'd rather teach you to run the numbers yourself than ask you to take our word for it.
General information — not advice
We give you the background, the method and worked examples so you can make better decisions. But we don't know your specific situation, and we're not your adviser. Big decisions belong with someone who knows your whole picture. See our disclaimer.
No paid recommendations
We don't recommend a product because someone pays us to. If we ever earn from a link, it will be clear — and it never changes what we recommend.
Anonymous, on purpose
The author behind The Life of Fi is anonymous. Not to hide anything, but because it lets us be fully honest about numbers, mistakes and hard choices. The focus is on the topic — not the person.
We keep it current
